Customs and duty-free shopping

Non-EU citizens will have back the taxes

Personal consumption goods are allowed to be carried for an indefinite period within the EU.

Shopping in Barcelona

Barcelona is one of the most popular shopping cities in Europe.

Please see the following list for which constitutes personal consumption- per person:

  • 800 cigarettes
  • 200 cigars
  • 1 kg of tobacco
  • 10 kg of coffee
  • 10L spirituous beverages
  • 90 L of wine, 60 L of sparkling wine
  • 110 L of beer

Swiss people are allowed to import duty free into Switzerland:

  • 200 cigarettes
  • 250 grams of tobacco
  • 1 litre Sprituosen over 15%
  • Or 2 litres less than 15% alc.
  • 50 ml perfume
  • 250 ml Eau de Toilette
  • 500 gr coffee100 grams of tea
  • Souvenirs up to a total value of 300 CHF

More than €10,000 cash (cash, checks, stocks, etc.) must be declared at customs in writing, if they are to be carried over the borders of the EU market. Forms are available at customs. This measure is intended to combat money laundering and criminal activity.

Duty-free shopping for non EU-citizens

Non-EU citizens, as e.g. Swiss people, can obtained under certain circumstances VAT paid back at the exit.
