Many traditional festivities in Barcelona

The holidays in Barcelona have a high priority, not just the religious holidays. The holidays will be celebrated often with street festivals and many events.

Especially the church holidays are of high significance. On the 1st of January and the 25th of December (and often on the 6th of January), most shops and museums are closed.

Shops are closed on holidays. Museums and other attractions are usually open (except see above). If the public holiday is on the closing day of the museum or another attraction, it is then generally open.
